Andy Townsend: We have to use tunnel vision now

COMMENT[LNB]I've seen plenty go on in the tunnel - even the odd right-handers being thrown - and players have always got away with it. [LNB]When I was at Chelsea, Mick Harford used to tell almost every centre half he played against: 'I'll see you in the tunnel after.' [LNB]Quite rightly, very few of them used to wait for him! But we are living in an era when you cannot get away with it. [LNB] Altercation: Fabregas argues with referee Mason over Everton's goal [LNB]David Moyes was clearly upset about what Cesc Fabregas said to Lee Mason, claiming he was lucky to even reappear for the second half. [LNB]Only those present will know what happened but that is the first time I've seen managers argue so viciously over such an incident.[LNB]Angry: Moyes says Fabregas was lucky to stay on the pitch [LNB]It should be the job of the fourth official - who does not have an awful lot of responsibility anyway - to monitor that area when players are entering or leaving the field of play. [LNB]Too often, the fourth official is busy shaking Sir Alex Ferguson's hand after the final whistle and patting him on the back rather than monitoring the area. [LNB]A player can be sent off if he abuses an official in the tunnel but I believe players have the right to express themselves as they walk to the changing room - as long as they don't go too far. [LNB]If we want to ensure players adopt a proper code of conduct at all times, we need to introduce cameras and microphones to make the tunnel 'live' at all times. [LNB]With what has gone on recently in broadcasting circles, you never know what might be heard! If players are completely over-stepping the mark - as was alleged on Tuesday night - then we are going to have to start using video. [LNB]That would certainly put an end to the days when one manager makes an allegation about an Arsenal player and Arsene Wenger says nothing happened. [LNB]Top players have always got away with a bit more than journeymen. They always seem able to push the referee that little bit further. Maybe we're at the point now where we need cameras to punish players who step out of line - whoever they are.[LNB]  How much have you been paid?
