ShareRoberto Di Matteo is looking forward to forming an attacking partnership with Andre Villas-Boas but insists the new Chelsea boss will have 'no excuses' if he does not bring success to the club. [LNB] The Italian has returned to Stamford Bridge - where he enjoyed a distinguished playing career - as assistant to the Portuguese after a spell as manager of West Brom. [LNB]Di Matteo's side forged a reputation for stylish, attacking football at the Hawthorns, and the former Blues fans' favourite believes that Villas-Boas's success at Porto shows he shares that philosophy.[LNB] Dream team: Roberto Di Matteo (left) and new Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas[LNB]Although some have questioned whether, at 33, Villas-Boas is too young to take such an important post, Di Matteo - himself only 41 - brushed off any concerns, saying that all the building blocks are in place to bring some silverware back to Stamford Bridge after a trophyless season under Carlo Ancelotti. [LNB]Di Matteo told the club's website: 'I followed Porto last season and the amazing success he had there. But his call came a bit out of the blue, so it's mostly based on the fact that he likes my football philosophy and that's why he wants me to be part of his team.[LNB] 'I think he likes to play football and be positive and attacking, and over the years if you've seen a game or two of the teams I coached I think we played the same way. I liked my teams to try and win games rather than not lose, to build, to pass.[LNB] Empty handed: Chelsea did not lift a single trophy under Carlo Ancelotti last season[LNB] 'He's going to be in charge of it and we're going to be working the way he thinks is the right way to be successful. [LNB]'Everything is in place to be successful and get the best out of the team. There is no excuse for any players or staff because we have everything we need to deliver.' [LNB]He added: 'From the first conversation we had there was a good link and a good understanding, it was a very natural evolvement.[LNB] 'When you meet someone, from the first impression you can immediately figure out if you will get on or not and it was very positive. [LNB] Glory days: Di Matteo (left) enjoyed a fine career as a Chelsea player, including a memorable FA Cup final goal[LNB]'We both felt strongly and I have to thank him that he decided and thought I would be suitable and I was very happy to join him. 'It's obviously a challenge for me but I don't anticipate any problems.[LNB] 'I've got experience of being a manager, I know what it is like and I know what it is to be a coach.' [LNB] Di Matteo also revealed his delight at returning to what he called his 'home club'. The former Italy international won two FA Cups, one League Cup and a European Cup-winners' Cup in six years at Chelsea after joining from Lazio in 1996.[LNB] He said: 'I feel very excited to be back at my home club, it's fantastic.[LNB] 'I spent a large part of my professional career and many years of my life at Chelsea. I had a great time here and made many friends.'  [LNB] EXCLUSIVE: England need better coaches to solve No 1 problem, says CechAsh-Z Cole!
