Ancelotti repeats Terry stance
24 Jul 2009 - 09:10:42
Chelsea head coach Carlo Ancelotti has repeated his belief that captain John Terry will remain with the club next season.
The 28-year-old England skipper has been the subject of a couple of unsuccessful bids from Manchester City, who are reported to be preparing one more offer for Terry.
However, an upbeat Ancelotti told reporters: "John Terry, I repeat, is the captain of this team and he will be the symbol of this club and this team for many years.
"It's not been a problem in these last few days. He will be the captain of Chelsea in the future."
Meanwhile, Portugal midfielder Deco is determined to try and make a success of his second season at Stamford Bridge, having struggled with injury last term.
He said: "The last season was difficult for me, I had many injuries and only played a few games.
"I hope this season I don't have the injuries and can play the way I know. I like being here and just need to play and be fit. All I want to do is to play and do my best for Chelsea.
"It wasn't just the injuries, but when you have four injuries in the same year it is difficult.
"You recover and get fit again and, straight after, another injury. It's so difficult. I don't like to make excuses, but I hope to work hard and start this season playing well."
