Ancelotti cool on Lamps talk
17 May 2010 - 08:23:57
Chelsea head coach Carlo Ancelotti has dismissed renewed speculation linking England midfielder Frank Lampard with a summer move to Italian champions Internazionale.
Lampard continues to be linked with a move to join up with former Blues boss Jose Mourinho, but Ancelotti insists that nothing is on the cards.
He said: "This story is a joke - Lampard will stay here.
"When I started last season there was a problem with John Terry and Manchester City. Every time I said 'no, John Terry will stay here because he is important'.
"I don't want to do the same with Frank Lampard. He will stay here."
Meanwhile, Ancelotti has played down talk of a major clearout at Stamford Bridge this summer, after the club clinched a first-ever domestic league and cup Double.
The Italian added: "I don't know what areas I need to strengthen.
"We have a lot of players injured who will be ready for next season, including Jose Bosingwa and Michael Essien.
"We don't need a lot of changes, but maybe one or two players could arrive."
