Ancelotti: Terry will stay put
18 Jul 2009 - 10:56:14
New Chelsea head coach Carlo Ancelotti is certain that captain John Terry will still be at Stamford Bridge next season.
The 28-year-old England skipper has been the subject of a major bid from Manchester City recently, but Ancelotti expects the central defender to stay put.
He told BBC Sport: "I am sure he will remain at Chelsea.
"I am sure, 100 per cent. He has a contract for three years more and this is the situation now."
However, Citizens boss Mark Hughes is not about to call time on his efforts to prise Terry away from his one and only professional club.
He added: "It's what we expected because he's a Chelsea player. We made a bid and it was rejected, that's where we are.
"Sometimes you have to wait. Maybe we must wait until the end of the transfer window."
