Ancelotti: Terry not leaving
06 Jul 2009 - 10:34:36
Carlo Ancelotti insists that John Terry is staying at Chelsea after using his first press conference to categorically rule out any move to Manchester City for the Blues skipper.
Terry has been the subject of two unsuccessful bids from the ambitious Eastlands club so far this summer.
Last week, Chelsea warned City off making a fresh approach for their England captain.
However, weekend reports suggested the 28-year-old defender was contemplating ending his 14-year association with the club with a lucrative £200,000 a week deal believed to be on the table.
But at his first press conference since being handed the managerial reins in May, a bullish Ancelotti ruled out the possibility of losing his captain.
Speaking in English, the former AC Milan coach said: "John Terry is a symbol of this team. He will be captain next season.
"He said he wants to stay forever and we want to keep him forever.
"Now there is a question of Man City, but for Terry (there is) no price.
"He said he wants to stay. There is no problem for him or us."
Meanwhile, Ancelotti has denied claims that he is seeking urgent showdown talks with his captain over his future.
"I spoke with Terry a month ago when I came to the club and he said welcome. After, he went on holiday," added the Italian coach.
"I will speak with him because he is the captain and I want a good relationship with the captain."
