Ancelotti: Job done for Blues
26 Nov 2009 - 08:38:41
Carlo Ancelotti admitted he was happy to have reached a target after Wednesday's 1-0 victory over FC Porto confirmed Chelsea's progress to the last 16 of the Champions League as Group D winners.
Nicolas Anelka's 69th minute winner at the Estadio do Dragao ensured they finished ahead of the spirited Portuguese champions and could potentially be granted an easier first knockout round tie.
"It is important to finish top of the group," claimed Ancelotti. "It was the most important thing, it was our objective. We could have a good draw in the future.
"The game was good. To win here is not easy. We played a good match, it was a good match and a good victory. Chelsea played well. We are happy."
Meanwhile, Ancelotti expects Frank Lampard to be fit for Sunday's Premier League clash at Arsenal.
The England midfielder has missed the last two games with a thigh injury picked up on international duty.
"He is working very well and trained well today," added the Italian coach. "He could start the game."
