Chelsea's pursuit of Daniel Alves could end in disappointment after the Sevilla full-back revealed his interest in joining Real Madrid.
The 24-year-old Brazil defender has been strongly linked with a move to Stamford Bridge all summer, but last week the Blues had a reported £21million bid knocked back by the Spanish side.
Alves returned to the Sevilla squad for Sunday's Super Cup 5-3 second leg victory over Real Madrid before revealing he would be interested in moving to the Bernabeu.
"The player who says he has not dreamt of playing for Real Madrid is a liar," he told Marca.
"Any footballer would like to play for the club."
Referring to his long-running transfer saga, he added: "It is a quite complicated situation. The sooner it is resolved the better."
Alves joined the UEFA Cup holders from Brazilian club Bahia in 2002 and has gone on to win ten international caps.
The attacking full-back was linked with moves to Liverpool, Barcelona and Real Madrid throughout last summer.
