Alves set for Porto exit

Bruno Alves' father and agent has insisted the Portugal international defender will move away from Porto this summer. The talented centre-back has been linked with a move to Chelsea, who could require defensive reinforcements with Ricardo Carvalho's Stamford Bridge future in doubt. Barcelona and Real Madrid are also reported to be monitoring Alves' situation with the defender expected to command a fee in the region of £20million. Washington Alves, who acts as his son's representative, believes the time is right for the 27-year-old to move on, even though he has three years remaining on his current contract. Alves snr said: "It is certain he will leave Porto. "The player is happy at the moment because he is under contract, but we really think this is the moment for him to get a transfer."
