Alex escapes FA action

The Football Association will take no action against Chelsea defender Alex over an alleged stamp on Everton's Tim Cahill during Monday evening's 0-0 draw at Goodison Park.
The FA asked referee Phil Dowd to look at a video of the incident after he took no action against the player on the pitch.
A statement from the FA read: "Referee Phil Dowd confirmed to the FA today that he had not seen the incident at the time.
"He was subsequently requested to view footage of the incident.
"Having done so, Dowd informed the FA that, had he seen the incident, he would not have shown Alex a red card. On this basis, the FA will not be taking any disciplinary action."
In a controverisal goalless draw, John Terry was dismissed in the first half of the game as Chelsea missed the chance to go to the top of the Premier League table.
