Alex signs new Chelsea deal

Chelsea's Fifa-imposed transfer ban has made the club determined to secure the future of current players, and Alex has joined Saloman Kalou in agreeing a new deal. [LNB]Didier Drogba, John Terry, Ashley Cole, John Mikel Obi, Florent Malouda, Hilario and Michael Mancienne have also signed in agreeing new deals since the end of last season. [LNB]Kalou reached the World Cup finals with the Ivory Coast when they drew 1-1 with Malawi at the weekend, and club and country colleague Didier Drogba now wants his country to make history in South Africa next summer. [LNB]"It is going to be a challenge," said Drogba, who scored against Malawi. "To make it to the final will not be easy because there are great teams like Brazil and Germany who have won the World Cup for many years."[LNB]
