Agent slams Pizarro rumours

The agent of Chelsea striker Claudio Pizarro has dismissed speculation linking the player with a return to South America.

The 29-year-old Peru international struggled to make his mark during his first season at Stamford Bridge, scoring just twice in 32 appearances, only ten of which were starts.

However, following talk of interest from Argentinian giants River Plate, Pizarro's agent Carlos Delgado said: "Someone was bored and released that crazy news.

"Not only because River can't afford Claudio's contract, but also because he is not interested in South America at all. He has a contract with Chelsea and wants to play in Europe."

However, Delgado did confirm that offers from several clubs in Europe were being considered and that Pizarro may opt to move on.

He added: "Seven European teams have asked for him and I told them all the truth - Claudio wants to stay at Chelsea and it is pointless to continue talking about a move that will not happen.

"However, he has options. Claudio is free to decide.

"He is fighting for a place with one of the most important clubs in the world, but at the end he will have to take a decision."
