AC Milan are willing to use Brazil forward Pato as bait to lure Manchester City star Mario Balotelli back to Italy.

Balotelli has struggled to settle since his big-money move from Inter Milan in the summer and has been repeatedly linked with a return to Italy with his former club's city rivals.

See ya? Balotelli is being linked with a move away from Eastlands

And Italian newspaper La Gazetta dello Sport has claimed Balotelli is destined for a return to the San Siro and Milan want to explore the idea of using Pato, 21, as a makeweight in a potential swoop.

Balotelli is said to be homesick and makes regular trips back to Italy, something AC Milan want to take advantage of in their efforts to seal a move for 20-year-old striker.

But whether Pato would be open to moving to Eastlands remains to be seen.

The Brazilian has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea ever since Carlo Ancelotti departed the Rossoneri for Stamford Bridge before the start of last season

And the Italian has been quoted as saying he would like to work with Ancelotti again the future.
