Charlton Athletic star Jerome Thomas is an injury doubt for the visit of
Manchester United to The Valley a week on Saturday after suffering a hamstring injury.
The former Arsenal trainee has returned to his club to receive treatment after sustaining the problem while on duty with the England Under-21 squad.
Thomas had hoped to figure in Peter Taylor's side for their crunch clash with France at White Hart Lane on Friday, the first of a two-legged play-off to clinch qualification for the European Championship finals.
However, Taylor said: "It looks as though Jerome Thomas has done a hamstring. It looks as though he's going to be out."
Elsewhere, summer loan signing Jonathan Spector is expected to line up for the USA in this weekend's friendly with Scotland at Hampden Park.
The 19-year-old Manchester United ace is keen to stake his claim for a regular place in Bruce Arena's starting XI with the USA having already qualified for next year's World Cup.
