Charlton Athletic midfielder Matt Holland is hoping to earn a new contract at The Valley, whether the club survive the threat of relegation from the Premiership or not.
The 32-year-old's current deal runs out in the summer and Holland hopes to stay put, whichever division the Addicks end up in.
He told the South London Press: "Being out of contract does worry you as a player, especially as one of the more senior players.
"But I'm not thinking I'm coming to the end of my career, because my performances and fitness levels have been good this season.
"But even if the worst came to the worst and we were relegated, I'd still love to stay here next season.
"I've had four good years at this club. Yes, we're having a tough season, but it's still a good club with good people.
"I'll just concentrate on the challenge to try and keep us up, the rest will take care of itself."
Holland joined Charlton in the summer of 2003 and had has gone on to score 11 goals in 133 appearances for the Addicks.
Meanwhile, former Charlton defender Mark Fish is set to make a comeback in his home country of South Africa.
A knee injury forced the centre-back to exit the professional game back in 2005, but he has now recovered enough to sign a short-term deal with Jomo Cosmos of the South Africa Premier League.
