Sodje opts for Addicks

Charlton Athletic wrapped up a second deadline day swoop after landing Reading centre-back Sam Sodje on loan.

The 28-year-old defender has joined the Addicks on a season-long loan after finding first-team opportunities limited at the Premier League club.

Sodje made just one appearance this season where he was sent off in Reading's 1-0 Carling Cup second round victory over Swansea City last week.

"There's creeping movement on that one I would say," Royals boss Steve Coppell had admitted earlier in the week.

"Something will happen I think, but it might be a loan, not permanent."

Earlier on Friday's transfer deadline day, Manchester City right-back Danny Mills also joined the Championship club on loan.
