Racon injury causes concern

Charlton Athletic fear Therry Racon's knee injury is worse than was initially thought.

The 24-year-old French midfielder complained of a swollen knee after last month's 2-1 defeat at QPR and was unable to play in Saturday's stalemate with Southampton.

Addicks physio Steve Allen told the South London Press: "Therry has a chondral defect of the patella and we're going to drain the knee of the fluid and give him an injection.

"After that we'll monitor the injury and decide whether Therry needs an operation or not.

"If he doesn't require an op then hopefully he'll only be out for the short term.

"But it 's a rare type of injury and we don't know for sure how it will react to the treatment, so we have to keep an eye on it."
