Charlton Athletic head coach Iain Dowie has made Uruguay international Omar Pouso his ninth signing since joining the club just three months ago.
The 26-year-old Penarol midfielder has agreed a season-long loan deal with the Addicks.
Dowie told the club's official website: "I'm delighted to have secured Omar. He's a very, very combative player, he gets goals and his delivery from set-pieces is good.
"I've seen him play a couple of times, including Uruguay's friendly against England where he scored the wonder goal, but I've seen him play more times than that.
"He's got good ability, he's a good age, he brings athleticism to the team and creativity, but he also has plenty of aggression and competes very hard, which is very important for that central midfield area."
The Addicks have the option to buy Pouso for approximately £1.5million at the end of this season.
Dowie has already signed Souleymane Diawara, Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink, Simon Walton, Andy Reid, Djimi Traore, Amady Faye, Cory Gibbs and Scott Carson this summer.
