Deon Burton made his professional debut in the 1993/94 season with Portsmouth. After his loan spell at Cardiff City in 1997 he moved to Derby County. In the 5 years he was at the club he was loaned to Barnsley, Stoke Ciy and Portsmouth before a permanent move back to Portsmouth in 2002. He was unable to establish a starting role and was loaned again. He joined Brenford in 2004 and in July 2005 moved to Rotherham United on a free transfer.
