Parkinson hopes to stay put

Boss Phil Parkinson believes that he is the right man to try and guide Charlton Athletic back to the Championship at the first attempt. Parkinson was unable to save the Addicks from relegation following his arrival in November, but is hoping to be given the backing of the club's board this summer. He told the club's official website: "My position will probably go on for the next few weeks. "If I'm not going to be here I'll walk away with my head held high and I'll look everyone in the eye, shake their hands and wish them all the best. "However, I'm not sure that at this particular time the club needs another period of instability. We've had plenty of managerial changes. "I know the players, I know which players I want to get in. If the board want to start all over again that will be a huge risk."
