Parkinson delighted with point

Published: 07 Feb 2010 - 10:55:23

Charlton boss Phil Parkinson was delighted with the way his team kept battling to secure a 1-1 draw at promotion rivals Swindon. The home side took the lead after 65 minutes when Billy Paynter flicked on a cross for Kevin Amankwaah to stroke the ball home from eight yards.Charlton raised their game after the goal but showed little sign of equalising until a quick break in the second minute of added time saw the ball fall to Nicky Bailey who fired past the exposed David Lucas."Swindon dominated in the first half-hour and we didn't play as well as we can but one moment of quality got us a point," Parkinson said."After we got through that first period we competed well. It was a magnificent response from us and we knew Swindon concede late goals. Nicky Bailey stuck it away well as soon as it fell to him."Akpo Sodje was excellent, led the line well and contested everything with a physical presence and maturity. We ought to have had a penalty for handball in the box but the only one in the ground who thought it wasn't was the referee."
