Pards enjoys Iwelumo show

Charlton Athletic striker Chris Iwelumo earned high praise from boss Alan Pardew after his second last-minute winner in two games.

Summer signing Iwelumo netted a last-gasp clincher in the 1-0 weekend win at Southampton and repeated the trick on Tuesday evening as the Addicks edged a victory at Bristol City.

Pardew said: "Chris is doing a great job for us at the moment. He is carrying a few injuries but you wouldn't know it.

"The formation we play with only one up front does not really suit a big man, but he worked very hard and kept City stretched.

"We were very disappointed not to be ahead at half-time because we had dominated. But credit to Bristol City for coming back at us in the second period.

"After suffering three quick defeats we needed a response and have got it with two solid away performances."
