Charlton Athletic manager Alan Pardew has decided not to offer permanent contracts to Paulo Monteiro or Dorian Smith. Portuguese centre-half Monteiro moved to The Valley on a free transfer in early February, while midfielder Smith joined the Addicks from Tooting & Mitcham later in the month. Pardew told the club's official website: "I just didn't think they were going to feature in our first team this season. "It's a tough budget for us this year and I couldn't afford to take on anyone who I didn't feel could play in the first team."
