Pardew hails Addicks win

Charlton Athletic boss Alan Pardew hailed the 1-0 victory at Southampton as one of the best results of his managerial career.

A last-minute Chris Iwelumo goal gave the Addicks the points, after Jose Semedo had been sent off nine minute before half-time at St Mary's.

Pardew told the club's official website: "That was a massive win for us.

"To come off three defeats and then go down to ten men and then get the win in front of our own fans in the last minute, it doesn't come much better.

"I told the players that if I was to pick my best five games ever as a manager, that would be in there, that's how big it was.

"The sending off knocked us back a little and we had some hairy moments before getting to half-time.

"But we made a conscious decision at half-time to give ourselves a platform and to go and hurt them and we had some good chances before the goal."
