Pardew boosted by point
01 Feb 2007 - 08:56:05
Charlton Athletic manager Alan Pardew claims he is as confident as he has ever been about his side's prospects of staying in the top-flight following Wednesday's 1-1 draw with Bolton.
Following the stalemate at the Reebok Stadium, the Addicks are now just two points from safety and Pardew is remaining optimistic that his side - still without injured trio Darren Bent, Luke Young and Andy Reid - can avoid the drop.
"It's put us in a good position, we are right in there in the pack," he said.
"This is a very difficult place to go 1-0 down, as I well know (West Ham lost 4-1 at Bolton in December). I thought we were terrific, the spirit of the side really shone through.
"We have got some quality players to come back and this now puts us in a position that enables us to attack the next two games with a bit of freedom.
"We created the best two chances of the second half but you don't get those chances without spirit and organisation."
