Murty joins up with Addicks
06 Jan 2009 - 13:58:57
Charlton Athletic have landed experienced defender Graeme Murty on a month's loan from Championship rivals Reading.
The Royals club captain has been allowed to head out on loan in a bid to build his match fitness after missing the entire campaign so far with calf and hamstring injuries.
Murty has made more than 300 appearances for the club since joining from York City in 1998.
"I felt we needed to get one or two players in the building with a winning mentality and Graeme certainly has that from his time at Reading," manager Phil Parkinson told the club's official website.
"He has a strong mentality and a lot of experience. Obviously, he joins initially for a month and that gives him a chance to get some games under his belt.
"I played with him at Reading and he's a good player, but most of all he is a strong character and he will add a lot to this group of players."
