Lokomotiv Moscow have confirmed they are the club keen to sign Charlton Athletic midfielder Alexei Smertin.
The 30-year-old Russia international, currently on loan at The Valley from Chelsea, revealed earlier in the week that he is considering an offer from an unnamed club in his homeland.
Lokomotiv president Valeri Filatov told Soviet Sport: "We're interested in signing Alexei Smertin but only on certain terms.
"I've talked with Smertin and his agent but we haven't had talks with Charlton. Therefore, this is open to question."
Big-spending Lokomotiv have hit the headlines in the United Kingdom over the past week as they are on the verge of signing Scotland striker Garry O'Connor from Hibernian in a £1.6million deal.
