Jackson must prove fitness to earn new deal

Charlton manager Chris Powell is keen to extend the contract of Johnnie Jackson if the midfielder can prove his fitness.Jackson played a huge part in the Addicks' early assault on the play-offs, scoring 15 goals, but an Achilles injury picked up in February appeared to coincide with Charlton's slide down the table.Powell insists he wants Jackson to prove he is back to full fitness before offering him a new deal at the Valley."Johnnie has proved his worth over the course of the season by getting double figures - we've missed his goals and personality on the pitch because he is a key player," he told South London Press."It will be a case of making sure he comes back fine and plays a key role again, then we can sit down and tie him up."
