Iwelumo to make his mark
27 Jun 2007 - 12:37:03
Charlton Athletic striker Chris Iwelumo claims he has total confidence in his ability to score the goals that will take the Addicks back to the Premier League next season.
The 28-year-old completed a free transfer move to The Valley last month after impressing Charlton boss Alan Pardew with 37 goals in two seasons with Colchester United.
Iwelumo netted 18 times in the Championship last season and is confident of continuing his goalscoring exploits with the Addicks.
"I had two good years there (Colchester) and scored a lot of goals, but it's part and parcel of football that players move on," he told the club's official website.
"Now I've got new targets, new goals and new challenges. I want to score a lot of goals next season.
"I put pressure on myself and I know what's expected of me. The gaffer brought me here for a reason and I want to fulfil that.
"If someone had said to me two years ago that I would be a Charlton player, I wouldn't have believed it.
"I guess it's a credit to what I've done over the last couple of years, so I'm looking forward to it."
