Injuries concern Pardew

10 Apr 2007 - 09:42:01

Charlton Athletic manager Alan Pardew was pleased to take a point from the goalless draw with Reading particularly as injuries to Hermann Hreidarsson and Marcus Bent had disrupted his side's rhythm.

The stalemate lifts the Addicks one point above the bottom three as they extended their unbeaten run to six matches since losing at Manchester United two months ago.

"Obviously we wanted to win the game being at home, but given the intensity of Reading and the disruptions we had in the game, I'm going to have to be pleased with a point," said Pardew.

"The game-plan went out of the window a little bit so we went back to a game-plan that we'd used before, but it wasn't particularly suited to playing against Reading.

"It was a really tough game. There was a huge expectation on us but I didn't think that the team's anxiety was as big an issue - the disruption of the injuries and the intensity of the opposition were more of a factor.

"All three of the substitutions were forced upon me. Both of those injuries looked quite serious in terms of the next couple of games, but we'll have to see how they are on Tuesday.

"Alex Song had to come off because he'd made an undisciplined challenge that put him under pressure.

"We've had two tough games and I'd have liked us to have had more offensive promise in both games but sometimes it's not to be.

"But we're on a terrific run, we haven't been beaten again and if we keep getting clean sheets, Darren Bent's going to produce for us."
