Halford happy at The Valley
18 Feb 2008 - 14:04:01
Charlton Athletic loanee Greg Halford says he is relishing the chance to impress at The Valley, having struggled at both Reading and Sunderland.
The versatile 23-year-old made his name at Colchester United, but Halford has seen his career stall since he left Layer Road a year ago and is hoping to get back on track with the Addicks.
He told The Sun: "It is great to be playing again. I did not get too many chances at Sunderland and it has been more than a year since I played regular football.
"I didn't really want to move from Reading, but they made a quick buck and I was off.
"Yet it was more frustrating at Sunderland. I made a few mistakes and got punished.
"Roy Keane changed his story a few times. He said I was limited in chances and I felt, if I had a chance, I would turn it around.
"I then turned down a couple of teams to go out on loan to. He then said he was disappointed and I wouldn't get an opportunity at all.
"Charlton came in and were the only Championship side I would go to."
