Charlton Athletic new boy Stuart Fleetwood is desperate to make the most of a second chance to prove himself in the upper echelons of English football.
The 22-year-old striker has joined the Addicks on a three-year contract from Conference side Forest Green Rovers, having previously failed to make the grade at Cardiff City.
Fleetwod told the Kent Messenger: "I thought my hopes of playing at the top were in tatters after I left Cardiff. I thought I had blown it after failing to live up to a lot of hype.
"It went to my head and I didn't think I had to work hard anymore.
"Coming to Charlton is a second chance at this level and I'm determined not to miss out on the opportunity."
Fleetwood scored 36 goals in 50 appearances for Rovers last season, having joined them at the start of the campaign after being released by Hereford United.
