Euell nears Boro switch

Jason Euell's Charlton Athletic career could be over after the Addicks accepted an offer from Middlesbrough for the Jamaica international.

The 29-year-old forward has struggled for form and fitness for the past 12 months and Charlton boss Iain Dowie recently told him he would not stand in his way if he wanted to move on.

Birmingham City, Watford and Wigan Athletic were all interested in Euell, but Boro look to have won the race for his signature.

Euell's agent, Tony Finnigan, told Sky Sports: "We have been given permission to discuss personal terms with Middlesbrough.

"We will now hold talks and the player will have a medical."

Euell joined Charlton from Wimbledon in a £4.75million deal in 2001 and went on to score 34 times in 139 Premiership outings for the club.
