Dowie's a believer
17 Oct 2006 - 08:58:48
Charlton Athletic manager Iain Dowie thinks his side are good enough to get out of trouble even after they crashed to a 2-1 defeat at Fulham on Monday - their seventh loss in eight Premiership games so far this season.
The Addicks are rooted to the foot of the table after losing their fifth successive league encounter, but Dowie thought they were some positive aspects to take out of the game.
"We just seem to lack concentration at key moments during games," said the former Oldham Athletic and Crystal Palace manager.
"We were on top too often but didn't take our chances.
"We are still relying too much on Darren Bent. He scored a top goal tonight with only a half-chance and we need others to start chipping in with goals.
"The Watford game this weekend is now a massive game for us. I'm used to the pressure with this job, but it's increasing every time we don't get a result.
"But I'm a believer in this club. There are some good people here and enough talent in the dressing room. We just had a couple of mad minutes tonight."
