Bent focuses on fitness
24 May 2007 - 11:47:10
Charlton Athletic striker Darren Bent says his main focus this summer is to regain full fitness, rather than the frenzied speculation about his future at The Valley.
The 23-year-old has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs following the Addicks' relegation, but England international Bent says he is more concerned about recovering fully from recent knee problems.
He told Sky Sports: "I have no idea what is going on.
"I am going away on holiday to rest the bones and I will sort it all out when I get back.
"I haven't discussed anything. The season has just finished and I am not interested in what is being discussed.
"I am just getting my head down, working on strengthening my knee and getting fit for next season wherever that may be.
"I think the majority of the summer I am going to be working on strengthening my knee.
"It has been a battle for me in the last couple of months and it is important I get it right so I don't break down again."
Bent joined Charlton for £2.5million from Ipswich Town in the summer of 2005 and has netted 37 goals in 79 appearances for the Addicks.
