Charlton Athletic boss Phil Parkinson is hopeful of being able to clinch the signing of former MK Dons defender Miguel Angel Llera.
The 29-year-old Spaniard has opted to leave the Dons this summer, with a number of clubs interested in his services.
Parkinson told the News Shopper: "He is certainly a player we are close to signing.
"Miguel is one of a number of players we've been speaking to, but sometimes these things take a while to be formalised.
"He has had a good season with MK Dons and we aren't the only club who have expressed an interest in him."
