Addicks seal Gray swoop

Charlton Athletic have completed the signing of Burnley striker Andy Gray on an emergency loan, with a £1.5million permanent deal having already been agreed.

The 30-year-old former Sunderland and Sheffield United striker had scored 13 goals for the Clarets this season, which attracted the Addicks' boss Alan Pardew's attention at the beginning of the January transfer window.

The South London outfit had a substantial seven-figure bid turned down this week, but a renewed offer proved to be too good to turn down.

Gray told his new club's official website: "I'm at the stage of my career where the chance to go to a club that had been in the Premier League for a long time, and has a great chance of getting back there, couldn't be ignored.

"Everyone wants to play in the Premier League, it's where I want to play and hopefully I can help the club get there."
