Addicks issue Bent warning
09 Jun 2007 - 15:23:20
Charlton Athletic have warned Liverpool and West Ham they will only let Darren Bent leave The Valley 'if the price is right'.
The two clubs have been linked with a £12million raid on the Addicks for the England striker following their relegation from the Premier League.
But Charlton chief executive Peter Varney is adamant last season's 15-goal top-scorer will only be allowed to leave should potential suitors meet the club's valuation.
"Darren Bent will only leave Charlton if the price is right for Charlton," he told The Mirror.
"If it is not then he will be going nowhere."
Bent arrived at Charlton in a £2.5million transfer from Ipswich Two years ago.
The 23-year-old has scored 37 times in 79 appearances for the Championship-bound club.
Last month, Bent claimed he had no interest in discussing his future until later in the summer.
He said: "I have no idea what is going on.
"I am going away on holiday to rest the bones and I will sort it all out when I get back.
"I haven't discussed anything. The season has just finished and I am not interested in what is being discussed."
