Addicks hope to raise funds

Charlton Athletic are hoping to inject funds into the club after revealing a plan to buy the training ground and lease it back.

The Addicks, who appear certain to be playing League One football next season, hope to raise around £1.5million from the move.

In a letter to shareholders, plc chairman Derek Chappell said: "The board has undertaken a comprehensive review to identify sources of new funding and working capital.

"Three properties in New Eltham together provide the training and development facilities for the football club, the youth academy and the community trust.

"It was therefore agreed to examine the potential for a sale and leaseback of these training facilities."
