Addicks finalise Gray deal
25 Jan 2008 - 14:21:02
Charlton Athletic have completed the protracted signing of Burnley striker Andy Gray for an initial transfer fee of £1.5million.
If the Addicks reach the Premier League, the Clarets will be paid a further £500,000 for a player that has signed a deal that will keep him at The Valley until June 2011.
Burnley rejected Charlton's offer for the 30-year-old last week before agreeing to allow Gray to move to the south-east London on loan.
"Andy is a class player," Charlton boss Alan Pardew told the club's official website.
"He gives us something different, and I'm very pleased to have him. We've now got a very strong team.
"The loss of Svetoslav Todorov has been massive for us, particularly at home where we lost that link between midfield and attack.
"I think we'd be five points better off if he'd been fit, so now we've got Andy we've got no excuse."
