Charlton Athletic manager Les Reed has revealed a thigh strain was behind Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink's mystery absence from the side last weekend.
Hasselbaink was not even named on the substitutes' bench as the Addicks lost to Reading, but Reed has attempted to play down talk of a rift by claiming the veteran Dutchman was injured.
"Jimmy strained his thigh in training on Thursday and we thought we'd let it settle down over night," explained Reed.
"The physio had a look at it and decided he'd be better off coming back here and having treatment."
