Charlton Athletic manager Alan Pardew is keen to finalise a deal to bring Chelsea winger Scott Sinclair to The Valley on loan, as he attempts to boost his side's faltering promotion push.

A 5-3 defeat at Blackpool left the Addicks sixth in the Championship table with the prospects of an immediate return to the Premier League following last year's relegation fading.

Pardew believes the arrival of the pacy teenager, who impressed while on loan with Plymouth Argyle last season and QPR earlier this term, will act as a catalyst for his team.

Sinclair trained with the rest of the Addicks squad earlier this week and a loan deal until the end of the season is expected to be announced on Friday.

Meanwhile, Izale McLeod is being linked with a move to Sheffield Wednesday after struggling this season following last summer's £1.1million transfer from MK Dons.

The 23-year-old has found the net only once in 23 appearances for Pardew's side this term.
