Addicks close in on Green
14 Aug 2006 - 07:30:52
Norwich City have confirmed that they are in talks with Charlton Athletic over the transfer of England goalkeeper Robert Green to The Valley.
Green has been linked with a number of Premiership sides this summer, with the Addicks now in pole position to seal a deal.
City chief executive Neil Doncaster told the club's official website: "We are talking over a possible transfer of Robert Green to Charlton.
"Those talks are still at an early stage and no deal has yet been agreed."
Green has made nearly 250 first-team appearances for the Canaries and only injury prevented him from being part of England's World Cup finals squad this summer.
The 26-year-old is still recovering from a groin injury sustained in the warm-up game against Belarus.
