Charlton Athletic have agreed a fee with Manchester City for left-back Ben Thatcher.
The 31-year-old former Wales international has slipped down the pecking order with the Citizens and looks set to move to The Valley to boost the Addicks' relegation fight.
City boss Stuart Pearce confirmed: "The clubs have agreed a fee and the player is speaking with Charlton. That's as far as we are now.
"The finance we can gain from Ben going can be invested in other positions in the team.
"I believe I have enough cover to cope in his absence."
Thatcher joined City in the summer of 2004 from Leicester City and has made just over 50 appearances for Pearce's side.
He started his career in the capital with Millwall and has also had spells with Wimbledon and Tottenham Hotspur.
