Addicks add Cranie to ranks
02 Sep 2008 - 10:51:47
Charlton Athletic managed to complete the signing of Portsmouth defender Martin Cranie on loan until the end of 2008 just before the transfer window slammed shut at midnight on Monday.
Cranie, who is currently with the rest of the England Under-21 squad in the build-up to Friday's clash with their Portugal counterparts, started his career with Southampton.
The 21-year-old moved to Fratton Park last summer and has made three first-team appearances for Harry Redknapp's side.
Addicks boss Alan Pardew also still hopes to land Pompey defender Linvoy Primus on an emergency loan deal later this month.
"We feel Linvoy's not quite fit at the moment, although he's in great shape physically, so we're just monitoring it all at the moment," he told the club's official website.
"There's just a little bit more discussing to go on, but I can tell Charlton fans he will definitely be coming here, definitely for three months, and maybe a bit longer."
