Tottenham Hotspur vs Charlton Athletic PREVIEW
After an incredibly surreal week, the Addicks travel to White Heart Lane hoping not to beaten several shades of blue by 'Arry's Spurs. If you had asked me on Monday what I planned to write as a preview for this match, I'd have spoken about the Swindon match a bit, compared it to the Brighton game. I'd have then argued that Parky would be looking for one hell of a reaction from his players to go out and really shock a Tottenham side that, for the first time that I can remember, actually look like a big Premier League team. Yes, Swindon was very poor, sadly we sat back after taking a jammy lead, Christian Dailly might as well have kicked the ball into the net himself for Swindon's 2nd. And the tactical gamble to go all out attack failed miserably. But that's football. Sadly, things got a bit shocking on Tuesday, as Parky, Breaker and Kins got the boot. While I haven't been happy with some of the performances this season (and even left early on Monday as I was bloody freezing) I had full faith in Phil Parkinson, as I felt he had done a magnificent job stabilising a Charlton side that had been in free fall since the departure of Alan Curbishley. On top of that, he did it without spending money, which, even in League One is a hell of an achievement. (Yes, Benson and Francis cost money, but they're two out of 30 + signings that Parky made) So we make the journey to White Heart Lane on Sunday at 1.30pm for our FA Cup 3rd Round Tie. Paul Benson's suspended, but Joe Anyinsah thinks he'll be ready for selection which is good. And filling Phil Parkinson's place in the manager's chair is Keith Peacock, a Charlton legend, but not a manager (he's infact pretty much been doing tours of The Valley since he and Curbs left West Ham) I'm not at all confident for Sunday, I'll be there in the Upper tier cheering the boys on, but I'm just hoping we put up a good fight and don't get anyone injured if I'm honest. With this in mind, I still think we'll put out our strongest team.
