Still hails Benson's attitude

Dagenham & Redbridge manager John Still has praised striker Paul Benson for his professionalism after he completed his move to Charlton. The Addicks had been keen to sign Benson all summer before landing him on Bank Holiday Monday but Still insists that the striker was in no mood to sulk. He said: "It's always difficult when players leave football clubs and nobody wanted him to leave but it was the right move for various reasons. "When Paul signed his last contract he asked that if something came up which was in his best interests, could he be given permission to speak to the club? "We said yes, if the deal was right. We had four offers from Charlton which were turned down and at no time did Paul bat an eyelid, and it was only when we accepted an offer that we allowed Paul to discuss the move. "This club has to be run right and one of the reasons we have got to where we are is that we tell our players the truth. There was a fair bit of deliberation but he decided it was the right move for him."
