Parky on the offensive

Defiant Charlton manager Phil Parkinson claims his side's season has finally got under way. Parkinson faced calls for him to be sacked after the Addicks were thrashed 4-0 by Brighton at The Valley last week, but they responded by holding off a late Carlisle fightback to secure a crucial 4-3 win on Saturday. "It had been a tough week," said Parkinson. "We analyse everything and looked at last week and said that game had gone and this was a new start for us. "We were starting the season again and it was good to start with three points. "It means a lot to our supporters, and let me tell you it means a lot to the manager and the players and everyone else because it is our livelihood, it's our life. "I have to stand there and take the criticism. We took it on the chin and we accepted the criticism last week. Now as a club we hope to take that fight into next week against Sheffield Wednesday."
