Parky happy with a point

Phil Parkinson was satisfied with a point after watching his Charlton side come away from Tranmere with a 1-1 draw. On-loan keeper Peter Gulacsi spilled an early free-kick on his Rovers debut to hand Scott Wagstaff an easy opener for a Charlton side who have had a mixed start to the season. Both teams had chances in an entertaining encounter at Prenton Park and it was Tranmere who deservedly claimed a share of the spoils when Dale Jennings` header was blocked by Therry Racon and Enoch Showunmi was on hand to fire home the loose ball. Parkinson said: "They ruffled us at times but when we got the ball down and played we looked a good side. We had chances to sew the game up but failed to take them. We gave away too many fouls and invited Tranmere to put balls in our box which put pressure on us." The Addicks boss continued: "But after losing two away games it was important we got something here. We had to make sure we did not concede a second goal and it was a match which could have gone either way in the end. "It was a decent display and we are showing signs we can make progress up the table. We picked a team to match Tranmere's style and the 1-1 outcome shows it was not a bad decision. Four points from six is a good return and a boost for us."
