Parkinson reassures fans

Charlton manager Phil Parkinson has assured fans the club is doing all they can under the current financial constraints to strengthen their depleted squad. Leon McKenzie, Matt Spring, Chris Dickson, Dean Sinclair and Jack Clark have all left the club after the expiry of their contracts, while Tony Warner's short-term move and the loan deals for Dave Mooney, Kyel Reid, Matt Fry, Gary Borrowdale and Nicky Forster expired in May. Parkinson told the club's official website: "Looking at the current squad there's a lot of work to be done, but we're fully prepared to do it. "We've still got some good players. The likes of Frazer Richardson and Jose Semedo walked back in on Thursday morning and they want to see the club having a real go at getting promotion and having a successful season." Parkinson added: "I think everyone knows the financial situation. I haven't really been in a position over the summer to improve the squad or finalise the futures of out-of-contract players. "But we know what needs to be done and we know that it needs to be done sooner rather than later."
